7. San Juan, Perto Rico
A small island with a big character, Puerto Rico toils up a sunny Christmas with a salsa beat and a side dish of a spit-roasted pig. Festivities starts from early December and lasts up to Three Kings Day on 6 January. From mid-December, exuberant roving groups of carolers travel from house to house and make merry. The big festival is held on Christmas Eve, followed by Midnight Mass.
