France vs Peru: Team News

France’s talismanic attacker Antoine Griezmann picked up a knock in the side’s labored win against Australia but he has been passed fit. Didier Deschamps could make a few changes though to rejuvenate their stuttering attack. Olivier Giroud is expected to return to the starting XI possibly in place of Kylian Mbappe. Corentin Tolisso too looked out of sorts in the opener and Blaise Matuidi could slot in into the midfield, allowing Paul Pogba more creative license to thrill.
Pavard had a mixed outing against the Socceroos but is expected to retain his place in the side.

Peru were brilliant in their opening fixture against Denmark but were let down by misfiring attackers. Captain Paolo Guerrero came off the bench in their first game but should start this all-important encounter. Christian Cueva missed from the spot against the Danes but did enough to warrant a place in the side today.

France vs Peru: Probable lineups
France Probable XI: Lloris; Pavard, Umtiti, Varane, Hernandez; Kante, Pogba, Matuidi; Dembele, Griezmann, Giroud.
Peru Probable XI: Gallese; Advincula, Rodriguez, Ramos, Trauco; Yotun, Tapia, Cueva, Farfan, Carillo, Guerrero.

France vs Peru: Form Guide

France: W-W-W-D-W
Didier Deschamps’ side were as poor as poor can get in their opening group game and there is only one way left for them – UP.
Peru: W-W-W-D-L

France vs Peru: Head to Head

The two sides’ only meeting came in a friendly way back in 1982, Peru pipping their hosts by a solitary goal.

France vs Peru – Key Players

Paul Pogba: Pogba found more of his United form for France and struggled to make plays against a well-structured Australian defence. However, he did manage to eke out the winner god only knows how. If Peru provide him with any sort of space whatsoever in the final third, he will punish them.
Paolo Guerrero: The Peruvian captain sparkled after coming off the bench against Denmark and against a lacklustre French defence, he could run riot.

France vs Peru Prediction

Predicted scoreline: France 3-1 Peru
France cannot possibly play as poorly as they did in their first game while Peru cannot get much better. All that adds up to just 1 possible outcome for me – a comfortable France win. There will be goals and it’s just a matter of how many Griezmann and co can muster up.
3-1 to France for me.
