10 ways to deal with rashes
Skin rashes are distinguished by the red and itchy skin and come with the small bump or change skin’s color, texture or appearance. They can appear anywhere on the body.
This irritating problem is often caused by eczema, allergies, psoriasis, mites, insect bites, acne, sweating, etc. sometimes soaps, shampoos, detergents or any skin care product that doesn’t suit your skin can also cause rashes.Here are 10 tips to maintain healthy skin.
If you have a rash and it doesn’t go away in a couple of days, you should see a doctor. However, we have few natural ways by which you can treat rashes.
1. BAKING SODA
Baking soda will help in drying out the rashes. Plus, it provides relief from the inflammation and itching that accompany with the rashes.
Mix baking soda with water, and apply it on the rash. Leave it for a couple of minutes and the rinse it off. You can also mix coconut oil with baking soda and repeat the exact process. Even using virgin coconut oil has a lot of health benefits.
However, do not leave baking soda for too long on your skin as it may result in irritation.
2. OLIVE OIL
Extra virgin olive oil is a great moisturizer. It promotes skin renewal and healing as it contains antioxidants and vitamin E. It will provide a soothing effect and relief from itching.
Just apply extra virgin olive oil onto the affected area a few times a day until the rash heals.
You can also add turmeric powder to olive oil and apply the paste.
3. OATMEAL
Oatmeal is also effective in reducing the skin irritation and inflammation as it contains anti-inflammatory and soothing properties. It is especially great for rashes caused by eczema, poison ivy, chickenpox, sunburn, and allergies.
Grind oatmeal and add it to the warm water. Soak the rash with it for at least 15 minutes. Do this daily until the rash is healed.
4. COLD COMPRESS
A cold compress can be great for reducing the rash particularly those rashes caused by the insect bite, poison ivy, heat, etc. It also helps with swelling, itching, and inflammation. It is particularly very helpful when a rash starts to develop into blisters.
Put the ice cube in a sealed bag and press it gently on the affected area for a couple of minutes.
5. ALOE VERA
Aloe vera contains emollient, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antifungal properties. Thus it is an excellent home remedy to treat skin rash. It also soothes the skin and relieves itching.
Simply apply aloe vera gel on the affected area. Let it rest for 20 minutes and then rinse it off.
Do this thrice a day until the rash heals.
6. APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
Apple cider vinegar is another natural way to treat rashes and reduce itching. Plus, it has acetic acid that helps combat skin infection that can cause the problem. Dip cotton ball into the apple cider vinegar and place it on the rash. Let it rest for a couple of minutes. Do this few times a day until you are healed.
If the apple cider vinegar is irritating your skin, then try diluting it with water. If you still suffer from irritation, then do not use this remedy.
7. NEEM
Neem is rich in analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-irritant, antifungal, antiviral, and antibacterial properties. Neem is great for treating many skin ailments such as, rashes, eczema, psoriasis, scabies, etc. it also has antioxidants that fight against aging.
Simmer neem in water for about 15-20 minutes. Strain the solution and let it cool. Soak the solution in the cotton ball and apply it on the rash for 10 minutes. Do this few times daily.
8. CHAMOMILE
Chamomile is yet another way to treat rashes naturally. It helps in soothing the skin, relieving from itching, and reduces inflammation. It promotes healing as it has anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also rich in antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal.
Soak a washcloth in chamomile teeth and place it on the rash. Leave it for 15-20 minutes. Do this twice a day until you are healed.
9. CORIANDER
Coriander is a great ayurvedic remedy for rashes and itchiness, thanks to its soothing, anti-irritant, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties.
Apply coriander paste on the affected area, let it rest for at least 30 minutes and then wash it off. Do this 2-3 times daily until the rash is gone. You can also drink coriander infused water to treat the rash.
10. CALENDULA
Calendula is a great herb that helps in soothing the irritation of the skin. It also cures eczema, rashes, ulcers, dry skin, bruises, etc. It is rich in astringent, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral properties.
Apply calendula oil on the rash and leave for few hours. Continue this process until the rash is healed. Apart from these remedies, make sure you leave the rash exposed to air, avoid direct sunlight, keep the rash clean and do not scratch the rash.
