1. HAWA MAHAL
Hawa Mahal which stands right straight as the entrance Jaipur’s City Palace. Hawa Mahal is a quintessence of the Rajputana architecture, and it is considered as a significant landmark. This ‘Palace of the Winds is a grand five-storey blend of beauty and brilliance which is close to the culture of the state. Hawa Mahal was built by Maharaja SawaiPratap Singh in 1779. Its pyramid shape structure with 953 small windows allures a high number of tourists.
2. TAJ MAHAL
The zenith of Mughal architecture, Taj Mahal, was built by the Mughal king Shah Jahan, grandson of the great Akbar, in the memory of his queen ArjumandBano Begum entitled as ‘Mumtaz Mahal’. ArjumandBano Begum was the niece of Empress Nur Jahan and granddaughter of Mirza Ghias Beg I’timad-ud-Daula, Wazir of a royal leader of Jehangir. Begum was born in 1593 and expired in 1631 while giving birth to her 14th child Burhanpur. Temporally her corporeal was buried in the Zainabad garden. After six months the body was transferred to Agra to preserve in the vault of the Taj Mahal’s tomb. This historical monument is burial chamber of both Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal.
3. MYSORE PALACE
Mysore Palace is located at Mirza Road in Karnataka. The palace is prevalently known as the Maharaja’s Palace. Another name of Mysore palace is Amba Vilas, and it is one of the biggest palaces in India. Wodeyar Maharajas of Mysore resided in the palace. It is three story structure with a 245 feet length and a 156 feet breadth. The Mysore Palace encompasses a series of domed square towers enclosed by domes. The original Mysore Palace was stamped by wood which was burned accidently in 1897. The Mysore Palace was re-built by the 24th Wodeyar Raja in 1912. The Mysore Palace is inspired by the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture.
4. VICTORIA MEMORIAL
Victoria Memorial is indeed one of the most striking historical monuments in the country. It showcases a different arrangement of traditional European architecture and Mughal decorations. The arched white marble museum spread over 64 acres, and it is situated in a backdrop garden of Kolkata’s Maidan close to Jawaharlal Nehru Road.
5. CHARMINAR
The most famous attraction in Hyderabad Charminar was built by Sultan Mohammed QuliQutub Shah in 1591. He built it to conciliate the evil force of epidemic a plague in his new city. Towering in the center of the ancient walled town and encircled by vibrant bazaars. The tower is 56-meter high triumphal arch. The Arch is famous for its beautiful verandas, striking decorations, and the mosque. The small mosque is Hyderabad’s oldest mosque, and it is located on the second floor.
6. SANCHI STUPA
Sanchi Stupa is located in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It is approximately 52 km away from Bhopal and 10 km from Vidish. Buddhist stupa, temples, monasteries, and pillars are the major attraction of Sanchi. Almost all the structure date back to the 3rd century and 12th century. The stupas at Sanchi was founded by Mauryan emperor Ashoka in the honor of Lord Buddha. They are included on UNESCOs list of World Heritage Sites.
7. QUTUB MINAR
QutubMinar’s foundation was laid by Qutub-ud-din Aibak in 1199 AD. Further, his successor and son-in-law completed it by including three more stories. It is the highest tower in the country standing at 72.5 meters. It has 359 steps leading to the top. The three lower stories are made of red stones, and the two stories at the top are built with marble and sandstone.
8. CELLULAR JAIL
The cellular jail also referred as Kala Pani, was a regal prison situated at Andaman and Nicobar island. It was used by the Bruisers, particularly to émigré political jailbirds to the inaccessible archipelago. BatukeshwarDutt and Veer Savarkar are some of the notable freedom fighters who were imprisoned in this jail during India’s independence struggle. Presently the place serves as a national memorial monument.
9. GATEWAY
Built during British rule the grandiose Gateway of India is a beautiful monument of the country. This monument was constructed in Indo-Sacrenic style to honor the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Bombay. It is one of the excellent examples of regal architecture legacy in India. This magnificent monument positions at the Apollo Bunder, a famous meeting place in the city. It was built by George Wittet and was opened for public in 1924.
10. VIDHAN SOUDHA
Vidhan Soudha is considered as one of the most remarkable and magnificent structures in the Bangalore city. It is mainly popular for accommodating the Legislative Chambers of the state government. It has 300 rooms which house around 22 departments of the state government. This building is one of the most impressive structures of Bangalore standing at 46 meters. The building was constructed in 1956 and swanks the wonderful Dravidian architecture. It was built under Mr.Kengal Hanumanthaiah, then ruling Chief Minister of Karnataka state. The chief engineer of this building B.R Manikam mostly used granite in the construction.
